The issue seems to be a strange earthing problem, due to it only happens when plugged in.

I've tried two different official Dell chargers, and it has latest BIOS and whatever standard driver for the touchpad. After some Google searches, this seems to be a common issue. Later I put it away, and now when I use it, the touchpad goes very erratic when I used it when its plugged in. This machine is a bit of a pin to work on, as you have to completely disembowel it, to get at the hard disk which is under the motherboard (no trapdoor) but I did it.Īfterwards all is working well and have all updates on. I reinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium and activated it and then did the Win10 upgrade over the top, which it had before

Many which I fixed up and are working all nicely. I got given a stack of old and tired laptops in shabby condition. Long time since I have been on here, as I no longer do sysadmin/support work
